 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the completion, accuracy and submission of all jurisdictional business licenses, sales and use, personal property tax, registered agents, annual reports, etc. in the 15+ states and localities Ruppert does business
  • Review new jurisdiction statutes as new branches are established or business services are expanded to determine the necessary tax requirements and setup accounts in those jurisdictions as needed
  • Produce and maintain clear sales and use tax matrices in all major jurisdictions
  • Reconcile the various balance sheet ledgers which are related to compliance and tax activities
  • Manage the response of any tax or compliance audits in coordination with corporate departments and relevant branches as needed
  • Assist VP and Directors in the research, interpretation and policy development for various Accounting, Tax, ERISA, HR, Payroll and Benefit requires for the organization
  • Monitor the Quarterly and Annual Payroll Tax Submissions and ensure all appeals, amendments and adjustments being handled through ADP are being done timely and accurately in order to protect company assets
  • Manage the annual 1099 submission including independent contractor tracking
  • Ownership over COI oversight for subcontractors throughout the company.
  • Participate on the 401(k) committee to provide insight and support to the VP on ERISA compliance activities
  • Manage the unclaimed property listing and communicate with Corporate, Branches and Employees to ensure terminated employees are in receipt of their funds
  • Serve as peer review and counter party/back up to Director of Accounting in areas where segregation of duties is necessary
  • Support in research, integration and special projects related to integrating acquisition companies 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Must have experience working in tax and compliance environments, interpreting tax/compliance law and applying it to business operations.
  • Possesses the ability to propose conclusions and solutions-based research, facts and circumstances.
  • Extremely organized with strong communication; and ability to maintain momentum on undefined project timelines involving multiple parties to get things past the finish line
  • Bachelors in Accounting, CPA or CPA path favorable
  • Experience in ERP accounting software
  • Strong Excel and Data Analysis skills
  • Monday through Friday, regular business hours (no weekends)
  • $65,000-$80,000

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work takes place in a clean, pleasant office setting. 40-hour work week, but could occasionally require extra hours, including evenings and weekends. Fast paced, interruptions and working under pressure is unavoidable. While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly sit and perform repetitive motions; occasionally walk; and rarely stoop and reach. Also, while working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors.
